If you like to make projects utilizing both your embroidery machine and sewing machine, than you're going to love this.
So here's the finished project hanging on my wall just to the side of my embroidery machine. I have decided that I want to fill up the entire wall!
If you have never made a quilt, but want to, this is a great project to start with. You use all the techniques of making a quilt, but on a much smaller level. I love hand quilting or shall I say the "hand quilted look." I added this stitching around the applique block using my Babylock Sashiko machine. I used to do that by hand until I found this machine...and just for the record, if my house catches fire, this is the machine I'm grabbing on my way out!! It has now trumped all the other machines in my sewing room.
I know it's a little bit hard to see the stitches here, but I chose to use the Sashiko machine to quilt the wall hanging using straight lines. Another favorite of mine. The best part about this project is that you can use any technique you want for the quilting. You can also use any applique design that you like for the center block. As far as time goes, I completed the entire project in only a couple of hours. I think I spent more time figuring out which fabrics I wanted to use than actual sewing time.
